Feilding High School

The Team

The team of Feilding high school has been hand selected by our manager Mr Moore and team captain Heinrigh, this ensures that the team has all the skills needed for our project. At Feilding high school we believe in 5 things that help anyone with technology.

  • safety precautions is a must as it has been put in place for a reason.
  • Never underestimate a machine as it has the power to become a lethal device.
  • a machine can only be as confident as the operator.
  • practice makes you a better operator and ensures safety of others.
  • always listen and plan well ahead of what you are attempting to ensure that safe use of a machine is carried out correctly.

The team selected follows.

Heinrigh Beukes

i am the team captain for this team and i believe with a little bit of planning a thinking we can get this project well on the way, personally i believe even though this is a competition the goal isn’t to beat the other teams like what everyone else thinks. the goal for my team and i is as beat ourselves, cause there is no one better than to compete against other than yourself as you know exactly what you can and cannot do. But with that said i also believe that your mind is your greatest limit to doing anything technical.

  • 6 years of woodworking technology
  • 2 years of bcito included into woodworking
  • 2 years of engineering

  • all of them… but router over all.

i am the teams shaping/finisher and my main job is to ensure that the final product is exact to the specifications that have been set by the competition and our stake holder. i will also be the person that is carving out and shaping the badges for our project from exact replicas of the real thing as well as shaping the paneling to what the teams design has stated. i believe as Heinrigh has said that in this competition not to beat other schools i am here to beat myself.

Experience:

  • 5 years of woodworking technology

i am the jack of all trades for the team. I full in for someone that is away in our team, this ensures that a minimum of 4 people are present so that work can carry on without any hickups. this is a important roll as i always need to be up to date with what is happening not only in the workshop but also with the planning. i have also acquired the job of finding sponsorship for my team as they all say im the most friendly.

Anthony Clinton

i act as a structural engineer as i have been doing engineering for a large portion of my high school career. This a essential to the construction of my teams sandpit as we need to be sure that the chassis of our project can take the exterior weight as well as the interior. i will also be helping in all areas of the construction have i have the skills needed to do everything for the project as the skills in engineering skills and transferable to woodwork.

Experience:

  • 4 years of woodworking technology
  • 2 years of bcito included into woodworking
  • 5 years of engineering technology

favorite tools:

  • Any tool supplied in a workshop.

Kieran Clinton

Looking at my expertise I would say that i am capable in all areas in building and engineering but i would say that my specialty area is structural engineering. This is due to most of my engineering and building projects required structural engineering not forgetting robotics. My academic subjects has a huge role in my specialty as physics and Calculus played a huge role in judging if things are strong enough with equations i have learned in those subjects, while engineering and building helped me judge whether something is strong enough just by looking at it. My job in this project is to make sure the frame takes all the static loads and dynamic loads. I also have to make it much more ridged than we need to because stronger is always better, since this is going to a kindergarten do not want to be responsible for kids getting hurt for what i am in charge of.

Experience:

  • 4 years of woodworking technology
  • 2 years of BCITO included into woodworking
  • 5 years of Engineering Technology
  • 1 year of Automotive engineering
  • 3 years of Physics
  • Year 13 Calculus
  • New Zealand Number 1 robotics team with Heinrigh and Anthony (part of the team going to California)

favorite tools:

  • Any tool supplied in a workshop.
