dormer done

This week we focused on putting iron onto the dormers, walls and just finishing the iron in general.

First we cut the iron for the dormers and around the dormers, We marked the cut then cut them, seen below

We then stapled building pager to the dormer followed by the iron. Seen blow

dormer building paper

We matched the iron up with each side and marked out the hole location and once these were made. After they were marked we drilled them. Once they were drilled we but them onto the side of the dorma and screwed them in. They needed to be lining up with the wood otherwise their would be nothing to drill into. This meant we had to be super accurate with the screwing. Screwed in seen below

iron on dormer

When screwing them in one didnt line up properly and to fix this we screwed the screw in on a angle so that it could go into the wood.

Iron for dormer

We cut the iron for beneath the dormer seen below

Another thing we did on this task was that we put the the iron onto all of the walls. We did this using the blue strap, then building paper then iron. When we sorted out all of the hole location we drilled and screwed them.

This week we also cut out the locations for the hinges for the windows. We first marked out where the hinge was going to go then we set up the bench saw, and set the depth and width. Once this was done we started it up and cut the width using the bench saw to cut out the middle by moving the frame across. Seen below.

When this was done we screwed in the hinges and attached then to the jamb. Seen below

Next week is assessment week so we wont be able to work on the project
