This week while we have completed priming and painting the frame as well as cutting and priming the exterior panels. We learnt the hard way that drop sheets are important when painting. You will notice a big blob of paint on the floor of the playhouse; resulting in an instant decision to carpet the inside. We hope this spill won't result in a cost overrun.
We have also machined and fitted the corner sections which hide the bolts that join the sides and ends together after reassembly on site. Here Leslie is marking out the position of one of the corner sections.
The image below show the corner cap in position. The coach bolts used to join the side to the end frames are recessed behind allowing for a flush fit. The exterior weatherboards will be butted up to the corner cap. The corner section will be remove to access the bolts at the disassembly stage and refitted on site when the playhouse is assembled.
While we didn't get to clad this week we are in quite a strong position. Next week we will be cladding and the painting team will follow directly behind us. Other members will paint the roof iron and fit the roof. Yes, the roofing shout will be on.
The final image shows were we are up to. The framing has been painted with the exterior panels and roofing iron framed.
Today we took delivery of the exterior paint colours and brushes from Dulux; whom we would like to thank.
TIP OF THE WEEK: REMEMBER THOSE DROP SHEETS, THEY SERVE A PURPOSE.
