Benchsaw

Week 3

The plan for this week is the manufacture of the weatherboards.

First we assign people to their jobs for the week.

To manufacture the Macrocarpa weatherboards we got our timber and had to cut it to 75mm wide using bench saw. Readjusting the benchsaw

Our team had to make the weatherboards a proper thickness which is 12mm thick using the wide blade on the band-saw,

Cutting the Weatherboard to witdh

We ordered them at longer length so we could make multiple weatherboards out of that one piece of timber. This was fairly time consuming because there was quite a bit of timber we had to cut down. The off-cuts were used for different part in the project such as in between the window on the door at the front of the play house.

By having windows and a door on the front it meant we would have long ones on the top and ones on the bottom that would be smaller because of the door. There for the door size would need to be considered. We also had to make smaller weatherboards because of the two windows on the front, meaning (from left to right) there would need to me a small weatherboard gap for window, another small weatherboard and a gap the door etc. because of these factors we had to consider all of the sizes for the weather boards but we didn't cut them to the exact expected length(since the off-cuts could be used for the smaller weatherboards). Also because the sizes are bigger than what we need, if the size doesn't fit the wall we can cut it don't to the right size. We also had to cut the weatherboard timber to the right width so that it would have nice look to it and work/function properly.
